Abstract:
The size, morphology and rheological properties of micelles in aqueous solution of dioctaalkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (TA-100) were studied by means of dynamic light emission, transmission electron microscopy and rheometer, the liquid crystal texture of the anisotropic aqueous solution formed by TA-100 surfactant was observed by polarized light microscopy. It is found that the average particle size of surfactant aggregates in solution and the rheological properties of solution change regularly with the mass fraction of surfactant, TA-100 itself two relatively long hydrophobic chain leads to the formation of the aggregate hydrophobic effect is strong, is conducive to further orderly arrangement, this results in the formation of cruciferous lamellar liquid crystals with low surfactant mass fraction.
